NEVAH at MACY's for Mike and Mike's "Fill the Truck"

Hey there friends and fans of NEVAH

… Had a terrific gig last night at Macy's Court in the Bangor Mall … helping to bring awareness to Mike and Mike's "Fill the Truck Event" - Gathering non-perishable food to be distributed by Manna Ministries.

And … we received this last night …

"Guys,

Thank you for giving your time and talent tonight. I wish I could have heard your entire set but what I did hear was excellent. The mix was perfect and you played at just the right volume for the occasion and venue. I could tell that everyone present really enjoyed it and I hope you made some new fans in the process. I took a few photos which I’ll go through and put up on the old Mike and Mike Facebook page www.Facebook.com/mikeandmike It’s set as a ‘public’ page so they should be viewable to all.

Thanks again for helping to spread the word on the first day of the food drive. The response was good – for a Monday. Tomorrow will be our busiest day. We get to wake up in a few hours and do it again!

I look forward to seeing you at Next Generation Theatre in January.

Mike"

FREE NEVAH Concert at Bangor Mall for Mike And Mike Food Drive

Hey, NEVAH Friends and Fans … a quickie announcement …

Our really good friend Mike Dow, of Mike and Mike fame … has … along with his long time radio announcer buddy Mike Elliot … collected tons of food (literally) for the Manna Ministries Food Drive over the last 14 years.

This is their 15th ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE - titled "Mike and Mike's Fill The Truck," serving the elderly, homeless, under-employed, jobless, single parents, individuals and families having a rough time.

This year they will be in 2 locations collecting canned goods Nov. 22-24 at the Ellsworth Hannaford and Nov. 25-27 at the Bangor Mall parking lot.

And I am pleased to announce that NEVAH will be joining Mike and Mike on November 25th … providing a FREE Concert at the Bangor Mall … inside at the Macy's Court (yes, inside). The concert will start around 5:30 and should end near 7:00 pm.

We hope to see you at the concert to help support this wonder event, and please bring some canned goods to be dropped off at Mike and Mike's TRUCK outside in the BANGOR MALL Parking Lot.

NEVAH's friends Maximum Blue Launch "Grounded" CD

Hey friends and fans of NEVAH,

… the other day, NEVAH's good friends from the group "Maximum Blue" (Max & Jeff Silverstein and Nancy Merrill) hosted their "grounded" CD release party. I (Hal the NEVAH banjo guy) had a chance to MC the event and was asked to join them on-stage for a quick "Foggy Mountain Breakdown".

Maximum Blue's - Grounded CD -
It's the first time I've ever jammed with Max, who is an amazing fiddle player, and I must admit flat picks a guitar better than I do as well. And he's only 16 …

Poster for Maximum Blue CD Release
Plus several of the groups friends were asked to join them on-stage, including Max's amazing fiddle instructor/teacher/coach …Laura Rioux - a well known - very much in-demand performer as well.

A terrific turn out at the Next Generation Theatre in Brewer and a fun time was had by all …

… and it looks like they are planning another CD launch in Southern Maine - (see below) - so Max's "other" fans can catch them too.

Hey … friends and fans of NEVAH. I hope the guys in band don't mind but I just wanted to let you know that this Sunday, October 6th, I will be appearing at the 4 Points BBQ in Winterport … doin' a solo-ish-like guitar/banjo/singin' thing …

… from 5:30pm to 8:30pm

So, if you are around and would like some amazing food, hang out with some really cool folks (I understand several of the NEVAH guys will be attending) … and listen to and sing along with a few "familiar-esque" tunes. I'd love to see ya.

Thank you, Thank you - NEVAH CD Release Party

On the behalf of the NEVAH band I would like to thank everyone for making our CD release party a fun filled successful evening.  As sometimes happens in the "heat of the moment" (great name for a song, oh yeah already taken) I forgot to thank some very important people, our wives, David Russell, and Scotty Reynolds.  Our wives have always been wonderful, understanding and supportive of our musical efforts, allowing us the time it takes to put it all together.

NEVAH CD Release Party at Next Generation Theatre
David Russell, who has been an enormous help to us at every show we play.  David schleps the equipment in and out of these venues, which in some cases is no easy task, and we could not thank him enough for his help and "sunny" smile, making a mundane task pleasant.

Scott Reynolds has willingly stepped up to the plate to help us over the years run our sound.  He has come to our practices to hear what we are trying to sound like, learns our songs so he knows who does what when, and listens intently during the show trying to find those correct levels and blends to make us sound as "good as possible."

We are truly blessed to have these people in our "musical" lives.

Additional thanks to Tracey for providing such a fantastic venue as "The Next Generation Theatre" for us, and all the other performing arts enthusiasts, enabling us to express ourselves in a comfortable and warm surrounding.

In closing, literally and figuratively, we do "GET BY WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM OUR FRIENDS"

Thanks again … "Phil the bass player."
