This just in:
Discovery Channel American Loggers - Pelletier Loggers Family Restaurant has requested the Nevah Band for a return performance.
The Pelletier Loggers Family Restaurant, seen on several episodes of the Discovery Channel, in conjunction with the American Loggers series, has requested the Nevah Band, with their brand of Maine bluegrass music for the Pelletier's big truck pulling event this September, held in Millinocket.
The Discovery Channel filmed the Pelletiers logging operation specifically for the American Loggers series, it was and continues to be a huge success. As an off shoot of that series the Pelletier Loggers Family Restaurant was born. The band can tell you first hand the restaurant has a terrific atmosphere, very good food, friendly service and lots of ice cold beer on tap at the large upstairs bar area.
When the Nevah band performed earlier this summer at the Pelletier Restaurant they clearly hit a positive note, or notes (so to speak). The folks in attendance instantly jumped out of their seats and hit the dance floor, almost continuously for four hours of music. Nevah had a blast performing for all the loggers and are looking forward to another fun time performing our unique Maine bluegrass music on the weekend of the truck pulling event.
The Pelletier Truck Pulling event is Sept 24th and the band is slated to play from 9 pm to 1 am
See you there …

Greetings friends, fans, stalkers, and often-irritatingly-unrealistic-yet-entirely-indomitable-Giants-fanatics.
I hope everyone out there is having a spectacular early fall! We Waybacks miss being out on the road together, and thanks so much for all your kind notes inviting us back to play in your hometowns!
Really sorry we won't be hitting more places in 2011, but we do have a few great shows coming up in Virginia:
Thursday, October 6, 2011
Richmond, VA
A very special event featuring The Waybacks and the incomparable Jim Lauderdale! We'll each be doing a long set, then jamming/collaborating at the end. Best of all, the show is being hosted by our friends at the Massey Cancer Center--Massey always hires a top-notch sound crew, so I'd expect this show to be sonically fabulous. And proceeds benefit the Cancer Center, so you can feel good about where your ticket dollars are going. It's an honor to play for this 7th Annual Music for Massey event!
Saturday, October 8, 2011
Staunton, VA
We played at Mockingbird's last year and had a terrific time! It's a beautiful venue with great sight lines and sound, and very classy staff and food. Excited to be returning!

In other news, my first ever instructional guitar DVD is now shipping! It's (subtly) entitled "Making the Acoustic Guitar Rock!" and covers a wide range of topics from pick technique and string bending to creative approaches for soloing over chord changes and pounding out rhythms, and the folks at Homespun did a great job of filming with right and left hand closeups and written transcriptions of everything I play. The vid is primarily instructional, but it also includes some fun outtakes and solo acoustic studio jams, and I discuss ways I tweak equipment and instrument setup to make the acoustic guitar sound good onstage when The Waybacks get cookin'... Targeted for intermediate to advanced players, but there's a lot there for beginners, too. Click here for more info...
Be sure to check out WarrenHood.com and JoeKyleJr.com. Warren's playing at the Rice Festival in Fischer, TX, on November 11th, and Joe's playing just about every night in the Bay Area and beyond, with Emily Anne, the Avatar Ensemble, and many others.
In other online news, I added some never-before-seen video content at JamesNash.com, including footage of James Nash and The Nomads, and a stellar-sounding multi-track-captured live performance of The Waybacks with Joan Osborne.
Finally, I just discovered this new technology called Twitter, which has apparently been around for 4+ years ?!? If you'd like to jump on the very late bandwagon with me, I'm @Jnashvillain.
Happy Fall, everyone!

Maine Country Band: Nevah
When discussing Country Music bands from Maine, there is one from Bangor Maine that stands out by virtue of it's versatility and musicianship. Performing for the past 10 years, in various configurations, Nevah makes their fans dance and stomp their feet with a special brand of country-fied music.
Most of the members of Nevah hail from Winterport Maine with a couple of "stragglers" from surrounding communities. Nevah plays through out Maine but always enjoys performing in their home towns. Nevah is an authentic Maine Band. Most of the performers have been in Maine more than 25 years and call Maine their home. Their children are and have attended Maine public schools and their love and passion for the state of Maine is heard in the tunes they write and perform.
Country music in Maine is held to a very high standard and the Maine Country Band, Nevah, demonstrates that everywhere they perform. With tight vocals and attention to details through out their arrangements, they show a dedication to their craft.
Please take the opportunity to hear what some have called the purest Maine Country Band - Nevah. They will be performing in your area soon, add your Email address to this blog and we will notify you personally of our upcoming performances. Look forward to sharing some good tunes and good times with you.

Nevah Band Logo Animation
Just playing around with an animation for the Nevah Band's logo. The idea actually came from Richard, our mandolin player, who suggested I add the word "maine" to the atypical band phrase under our logo.
So … I figured I'd try this. Hope you like it. I'll tweak it a little later, when I get a chance and then I'll add a progressive newgrass banjo sound to it.
Hope you like it. Any thoughts?
Hey, no one responded to my "wanted Poster" contest. I guess that means that I'll have to keep it. If you go back to some older posts you should be able to see my challenge.
Have a terrific evening.
